    I have

several items made of steel & some made of cast iron that I would like to remove the old paint and rust and then repaint. Some are tools like my old digging bar (covered in rust( and an old antique 2" flo check valve and such stuff I would just like to use as decorations. What are some good methods? Would sandblasting work? Any suggestions on the paint?

    there was on

the Piers, a way to remove rust with a battery charger and some washing soda. It actually replaces the oxygen in the rust there fore not damaging the item, as sand blassting would do. bigugh A good paint remover could be used if painted

    Blast em

if they are fragile or soft parts the blaster can use a softer media. My blaster dude used walnut shell husks to blast aluminum or plastic parts. Blasting is cheap, easy, and safe.

    better have lots of ventilation

That's alot of CO2 to dump into an area. Human breathing is driven by CO2, and too much in the air makes you stop. It's also a good bit heavier that air, so when you pass out you end up in a higher CO2 area.

If someone were to do a bunch of this in a smaller room with insufficient ventilation, it could be really bad. This was a major problem with CO2 fire supression systems to the point where they have been banned in computer rooms.
