I really like the "dead men's motto":
"A hundred years from now, they will gaze at my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me."
It got me thinking about my Dad's definition of a craftsman:
"You can tell a true craftsman by the way he does the parts nobody will ever see"
Don't know if it's original, but I like to think it is :-)

reminds me of the story
about an athenian who was sculpting a statue of athena. his apprentice asked why he was spending so much time on the layer of hair that would be beneath the finished layer. he replied, "though the people that come to veiw this will never see this hair, the goddess will."
