I was trying to give some of the guys at work some advice concerning our hydronic heating plant, but it seems to be falling on deaf ears. They were losing water in the expansion tank and instead of filling the system with water they would increase the water level in the expansion tank by increasing pressure in the expasion tank.I know this will cause a problem with our pumps eventualy but what other problems will this cause?

When you
raise the pressure in the system (and that's what they're doing), the compression tank has to get larger. For instance, if you increase the system fill pressure by 50%, the required size of the tank doubles. The result is usually a relief valve that pops.Retired and loving it.0
