What happens to pex when

What happens to pex when it's buried in concrete and there is no place for it to go?? I've heard many discussions on this topic but never any definitive answers. We all know that the stuff grows at an alarming rate when hit with hot water so what happens to it when it goes from 50-90 degrees in a slab? My theory is that it has to expand and the only direction it can grow is inward, effectively making the ID of the tube smaller.

Does anyone know for sure??
