Anticipator - REALLY dumb question

Home owner... but not hopelessly klutzy.
I recently replaced the main vent on my vapour steam system (changed from a Hoffman 4A to a Hoffman 75) and what a lovely difference it has made! All the radiators warm all the way across, and the boiler no longer short cycles on pressure... which, oddly enough, is the problem: before, the boiler shut down on pressure, then started again -- which led, for a given length of thermostat 'on' time, rather less heat than now (since the boiler now runs right through the thermostat 'on' time.
Guys... which way do I diddle the anticipator control to shorten the thermostat 'on' time? It is one of the round Honeywell mercury switch jobs...
Thank you!

Honeywell T87 anticipators
slide to right (lower numbers) to shorten the cycle.
Now that your steam distribution problem is solved, try setting the anticipator to match the thermostat current of the oil primary control, relay or gas valve (whatever the thermostat actually controls). If it then short-cycles, kick the anticipator up a notch.

Wink, wink
Good to hear that you changed that. I hoped you would. If you do more with it, keep in touch. That's a beauty of a system and house....
