Opus
looks like a nice product. I am a little confused. Is it a direct vent oil fired or do you need a power venter for a non chimney application?0 -

We are in the process of having six 250mbh gas units installed in a nursing home in our territory, replacing relatively new competitive products that have failed in 4 years. With 2 units in so far, everyone is impressed to date.
The key I have seen to these being applied to any system is a 140F maximum water temperature, which will stop some from being installed in existing applications.0 -
Opus Oil Boilers
Ralph,
The demand for Opus products is increasing more each day as contractors install their first one. The temperature limitation of 140°F is only limited to the G-1 gas models. The Oil-fired models operate with normal system water temperatures like any other boiler. The big differences are the built-in primary-secondary variable speed injection system that the O-1 oil models have. This along with large water contents increases the AFUE efficiency almost to 90%. All Opus products come with an easy to program Energy Management Control Center temperature reset system and six zone relay pre-wired. Here are some pictures of an oil install in the Berkshires in a 150 year old farm house. This particular one is equipped with a Riello Burner. Beckett with a cover is the standard and Riello or Carlin are optional. Hope this helps.

Does Opus Oil have
Energy Star Rating?
I would like some technical literature on the Opus gas unit. Where is it available?0 -
Opus literature is
on the Opus web site, along with spec sheets, and ratings:
They do offer a gas and an oil version:

All Opus products
proudly wear the Energy Star label Tim! The Opus G-1 Heat Source approaches an AFUE efficiency of 99.7% and is fully condensing. The Opus Oil-Fired boiler approaches an AFUE effciciency of 90% without condensing. As I stated in a reply to your e-mail, the info is in the mail. Thanks.
