Source for Repair Kit for Vintage Crane Globe Valve marked 1/2 Crane 125

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. I have a 1947 American Standard boiler, single pipe system and the normally closed fill valve no longer seals well with the result that the system pressure, basement plus first and second floor, over time adds new water, creeping up the pressure. I was hoping to find a kit for the vintage threaded fill valve and avoid unsoldering the copper supply line connection. I have found a complete Nibco valve that has a wider body I can likely fit it but was hoping for an easier fix. Was thinking there might be a company with NOS repair kits or a complete valve. Thanks for any sources and advice you may have.

This is just a manual globe valve? If so you can use string packing to repair or replace the packing and get the washer from a hardware store. If the valve is from 1947 the washer is probably leather but it can be replaced with synthetic rubber.

Depends on the time you want to spend. In the long run If it was me i would take the valve out and put a ball valve in

I doubt that there would be a “repair kit” for any 1/2” valve, especially one from 1947. Not much of a market for it.

I agree with Ed: just replace it with a ball valve and a coupling if needed.
