Burnham Alpine Boiler control

Hello Gents

I have a Burnham Alpine in need of a Boiler Control System.

At present there is an Sage 2.3. This gort wet it would appear though there is no evidence of anything blown discolored or damaged. This is a replacement control from maybe three years ago. I dont recall what went wrong withn the original control. This 2.3 got wet from a dripping expansion thank valve.

My question is Did this boiler come with a Sage 2.2? There's one on the shelf at the supply house. I do recall that the first control was not a 2.3. I'll dig a bit more on my own, but thought I'd ask the hive brain

    Well… Update and somewhat of a retraction. Before condemning the control I re3connected it and powered the boiler. Everything came up and the water heater circulator came on line. This wasn't happening previously. Not sure if simply unplugging the connectors and replugging cleaned terminals was a factor or not. Anyway the thing is running and making hot water.

    Bad connection or a reboot …

    When the sage control goes bad a error code will pop up.. also the newer sage may show some issues with the older gray screen …. Not sure if you know or not ..

    I'm not that familiar actually. It's the only one we have here. Now that you mention it the previous control had an error but I don't recall what it was. This is in a girls dorm building and a couple of weeks ago there was a complaint of insufficient hot water that seemed to resolve itself. It could be related or not. No error code. Then last week there was no hot water but there was a call and continuity. So I'll let it run for the week and watch if there is any glitch. I think you're right that it was a reboot.

    I took a computer course in order to be the onsite IT liaison with the main branch office of Weinstein Supply Co. in another life. One of the things we were taught in that class is that disconnecting and reconnecting all the plugs, wires, Molex connectors, and card-edge connections on electronic equipment can act like sandpaper removing a small layer of buildup and making a better electrical connection. This can remove minor corrosion that builds up on the contact surfaces between connections. That may be what happened with the slight water event on your control board. Not enough to damage the control but just enough to start the corrosion process.

    So often, that is all that is needed to get something to work again.

    That is why the cable company tells customers to turn off the cable box, unplug it from the wall outlet, wait about 15 seconds, then plug it back in and see what happens.

    Although that never works for me—because by the time I call the cable company, I’ve already done all that.

    But in order to get a cable company technician to come to your home, you have to call and wait on hold for 25 minutes to speak to a CSR. They will start a case file, tell you to turn it off and back on, then send a signal from the main office server to your particular cable box and have you wait another 15 minutes to see if it works.

    After that doesn’t work, they’ll have you turn it off and on again.

    By this time, you’ve been on the phone for about an hour and still have no resolution. At that point, if you are patient and polite, you will be given a case number and a technician will be scheduled to come to your home next Thursday (that is, if you’re calling on a Friday).

    Then when the technician arrives, he brings a new cable box and swaps it out—because the old one is obsolete and no longer works with the newer equipment at the main office server, which is probably the reason you had the problem in the first place.

    Yes I have learned over the years that some thing can seem to fix themselves. This was a head scratcher though what with 25 kids needing 30 minute showers LOL

    I've gotten mildly paranoid about connectors of one kind or another. If I unplug it, I give it a nice spray of Deoxit or some other contact cleaner before I put it back together… (NOT dielectric grease — that's a different stuff and different purpose altogether!)
