Soft starter for WaterFurnace

I purchased a Eltwin Hyper SureStart Single Phase Soft Starter 230V (16-32 FLA) - SS1B16-32SN. Can this be used on a WaterFurnace geothermal 5 Series 3ton Aurora base model, 230/60/1 furnace instead of the Intellastart by WaterFurnace which is made by Eltwin?

    why do you need a soft start?

    With the new digital meters they read and record all spikes and any device plugged in. Got rid of the Smart Meter went to the digital and dropped my bill by $75.00 even with the $3.00 adder for manual reading. Still a far cry from the analog I used to have. My inrush is 59A and runs at 7.6A. Trying to drop the inrush to save money, wear and tear on my compressor. After 30years with my first WaterFurnace unit this new one is costing me more than my dinosaur.
