Will a Merv 13 stress out my heat pump?
My current heat pump indoor unit: Bosch BVA-48WN1-M20
I've been using a Merv 11 20x25x5 filter since it's been new these past two years.
Will a Merv 13 be too stressful for the system?
This thing has been running hard with temps as low as 4°!
Thanks

absolutely
the filter in your heat pump is to protect the equipment not to replace your vacuum cleaner
Most systems have excessive static pressure to begin with, the higher merv filters only make it worse0 -
Hi, I'll add that if you oversize the filter enough, you won't suffer the pressure drop. People have done this with HP water heaters successfully. Allison Bailes has posted info about this on his site.

The recommended filter size (according to multiple searches) for the Bosch BVA-48WN1-M20 is 20x22x1. I've been using 20x25x5. Diameter wise it's a bit oversized but will the thickness be a problem?

Trying to decrease potential mold spores.

lower the RH.
Get a whole house dehumidifier with outside air hookup.
