Toe Kick Space Heater

My question is two fold. My daughter’s house has 1/2”pex in the wall and then goes up to 3/4” fin tube then back down to 1/2” pex. Is this normal, I thought you go down in size and not back up. Second part I installed a toe space heater with a mono flow tee on the return side with the arrow going with the flow of the water. Problem I’m having is no heat through the supply side which is a 3/4” x 1/2” copper tee.

It’s probably air bound. Monoflo can be extremely difficult to purge air from.

If you have 1/2" pex in the walls, you are stuck with it. Baseboard is 3/4". That's life.

You have a coin vent on the return, it appears, open it and bleed any air out. Your monoflo tee doesn't appear to be a B & G Monoflo tee as it has a red band around it and I don't see it, maybe just a diverter tee made in China? The monoflo tee should be on the supply side to the toe kick heater which is the port closest to the fan. Do you really have a monoflo (diverter) tee on it at all? I can't tell from the photo.

If you have the tees backward, or on the return piping, there will be no flow as there will be no pressure differential. The pressure will be the same on both the inlet and the outlet to the heater=no flow. The monoflo tee goes on the water supply that goes to the heater.

A real B & G Monoflo tee is expensive, but I only use them, not the cheaper ones.

how many feet of fin tube is connected to the 1/2”? Does it keep those rooms warm enough?

@HomerJSmith is right the monoflow tee goes on the supply when the heater is below the main. Sometime you have to use monoflows on the supply and return when the heater is below the main.

Spacing the tees farther apart will help and install a vent high up on the return

Ed, one if the heater is above, two below.

I always think of pressure loss. On the return from the heater, I would have preferred two 45 deg fittings to 3 90 deg fittings.

@HomerJSmith Yup that what I said. Two monoflows below the main. Plus the tees are supposed to be at least 18" apart. Not sure if he has that . Farther apart is better you get more PD across the tees.

@EBEBRATT-ed It was confusing to me. sorry

One of the Tees is brass, so it may be some off brand Monoflo?

The connection nearest the blower is the supply connection for the heater, but how do we know which way the flow is through the piping it’s teed into?

The unnecessary use of two ELLs at the outlet of the coil is also adding unwanted resistance to flow.

Unless the OP responds with more info or pics, we’re not gonna know the answer.

Maybe a "Legend brand" monoflow tee.

The unit is working, I checked the boiler pressure and it was below 8 lbs of pressure. , bumped it up to 15 and after 10 minutes it kicked on and started blowing warm air.
    Thanks for your help

A small unit with 1 monoflow probably will work as it is not far below the main.
