Are the pex 3/4 fittings different for pex b and pex c?

if you know what type (brand etc) of pipe you have you can look up the spec for what connections are approved. There is no 'pex B" type fitting, different manufacturers of pex b products will approve different types of connections, there are some brands of pex b that approve more connection types than others. for example Sioux chief has a pex B that has approvals for F1960 cold expansion which used to be only approved for pexA tubing. show what pex you have here, if you can see the many approvals printed on the pipe F1807 is standard crimp, F1960 is cold expansion like uponor style fittings, there are some others as well. I would imagine pex C would probably not get an expansion approval as its very stiff

As far as barbed fittings with crimp rings, no, they’ll work with either. So will Pureflow.

But as GGross pointed out, expansion fittings are a different matter.

  • Yes, Viega Pureflow fittings are what I use when I don't know what kind of PEX I'm working with.

All pex A tube can accept an expansion fitting Uponor, Rehau, Mr Pex.

Several of the B pex brands now allow cold expansion, Zurn and Sioux Chief.

I would suggest the A pex for expansion.

The expansion fittings do allow for better flow as they do not reduce the ID.
