Old Buildings, New Steam

In the 1980s, New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development renovated hundreds of old buildings and installed brand new one-pipe steam systems. In this podcast episode, Dan Holohan shares why steam was the solution and how he taught their contractors to install steam systems from scratch.

When Soviet Union disintegrated heat went off in really BIG buildings and nobody drained HHW. I'm from Toronto where HHW was far more common. So I'm prejudiced against HHW because I've seen so many issues. A common problem with steam is that folks don't read Holohan or other wise folks here and crank up steam pressure to "blow the condensate through the traps".
