Heat exchanger between wood boiler and propane boiler?

thank you guys.
I was forced into the 3/4” pipe for the wood boiler loop based on Gary’s recommendation of utilizing the current recirc pump with a relay to run anytime there is a call for heat.
what I didn’t need to do though, and I’m looking at this as a mistake, was use 3/4” pipe to plumb in the house side loop of the heat exchanger. I could have used the 1 1/4” down to 1” reducer for the supply side , and I could have cut into his 1” line and just kept 1” for the return side of the house loop.
im looking at this now and for an extra couple hours of work - and couple hundred in fittings, im going to repipe that side of the heat exchanger. I think I’m going to chalk this one up as a mistake but have peace of mind that I’m at least getting 1” pipe for the house side, and the short 3/4” loop will just be used for the wood boiler loop.0 -
I wanted to thank you guys once again; I got this heat exchanger hooked up and after clearing out an airlock , it seems to be performing nicely. It was nice to be able to flush out and treat the water running through the floors with only a couple cans of sentinel 100. I have Gary’s boiler up at 190 degrees after firing it up tonight. I will be interested to see the temperature tomorrow morning after heating for a night. It’s been a headache , but it sure is nice to see that propane boiler indicating a heating temperature and not even fired up because I’m bringing that hot water through the heat exchanger from 1750 gallons wood boiler. Appreciate everyone’s help!
