I have a SunMaxx, IntelliSol DHW Plus control station servicing about 60 evacuated tube collectors on my DHW system. It was installed around 2006 and has been working flawlessly. It is reaching the end of its life , but I hope to keep it running for a while. I need to replace the WILO pump and am having a hard time finding a direct replacement. The pump was stuck, very hot, and not moving any fluid. After playing around with it, I got it to circulate, but it doesn't even move the flow meter.It is a

but I don't know if I would be able to swap the motor onto my current flange, which is connected via union nuts. Would I be able to just unscrew the pump from the flange of the new one and screw it on to the current flange on my system?

Any advice would be helpful. Here are a couple of picts of the setup.

The U in their part number indicates union style body. 16 indicates 16' head a shut down. If you can find any Star 16 the motor part will swap in with those two allen bolts

The screw slot below the pump is a shut-off valve as well as the flat brass stem above. So a fairly simple swap.

Other brands of union body pumps will swap in also. If you get that exact union size

I would make an offer on that E-bay one, since they have 4 of them :)

Just to be clear, the link I provided was for a Wilo Star S 16 FX 4090764 on Amazon for $147. I could remove the new pump from the flange by the 2 allen bolts and attach it directly to the union body of my current system, correct?

I found this. It is a Wilo Star S 21F. It is a 3 speed and $135.

Would I be able to bolt that on to my union flange? It is a bit more powerful, but I had to run the old one on 3(high).

I don't believe my controller has a variable speed control .

Star 21 is a bit higher head 21' compared to 16'. I'm almost certain I have put a 21 motor into a 16 volute, but don't quote me. A safer bet is to buy one of the 16. The E-bay one is 90 bucks, 15 shipping

That is a Resol; control built for Sunmaxx. It is a Plus so it has the variable speed function. I highly recommend using that function. It matches the pump speed to the amount of energy the collector is grabbing. So the pump doesn't go on/ off all day. Even on cloudy days it ramps down to 10%. saves some power also.

I think the Sunmaxx is a evac tube system? The control has an evac tube function also, OTC (option tube collector)

Looks like SupplyHouse still has some of the Caleffi Grundfos circs with union body. This fits those PAW pump stations.

A bit pricey however.

I just ordered the Grundfos UPS-15-58U Replacement Pump. I post the results once it is installed 🤞 .

Once I get that squared away, I will look into replacing the glycol solution.

if you are up for the challenge you could fine tune the controller settings. I see they have sensor 3 connected, so the control is doing more than on/off for the pump

Only sensor 1 &2 are needed to run the solar collection.

The ph of the glycol is what you want to know. An automotive tester will work, or even the color strips. If it is dark colored, harsh smelling, it needs to go.

Evac tube collectors are tough on glycol due to high stagnation temperature potential.
