First startup of the season water level

I overfilled the boiler for the off-season, then lowered it to running level and fired it up for the first time this season couple days ago.
The water level fell about 1/2 gallon after the first night and hasn't lost a drop since. I figure it's just settling in for the season but curious to know if this is normal and if so, where does this first bit of water go? Could it be just the accumulation of a few drops in each rad, pipe, trap etc?
Thanks
