Any plumbers good at small bathroom layout?

I’ve got a small bathroom, little apartment, pulled out a clawfoot tub and trying to modernize a little bit. Would really prefer not to do a wall hung lavatory. Pedestal is preferred. But something is going to overhang something it seems
Let me know your thoughts!

@GW I understand you not wanting a wall-hung lav. I'm not a big fan of them either. The exception when having a small bathroom is this little lav. pictured here. Kitty cornered and very small. They take up very little space while leaving room for proper tub and toilet clearances. Depending on your bathroom layout, this fixture may help you with building a usable and code-compliant bathroom.

How big is the space, "small" is a very relative term. I was in a hotel with a 3x5 shower, toilet and sink.

Curbless shower with a curtain instead of glass can also free up a bit of circulation space.

Does it have to be a tub? Sometimes you can re-think the design with a small shower and still get more room to turn around without bumping into stuff.

I have seen this shower door for a 38x38 shower. The grandkids called that bathroom shower the rocket ship, if I recall correctly.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

@Intplm. long story but I wish to keep the wc on the left. There's some old 4x4 brace for the old joists (I elected to keep it, it only helps) in my way if i move the wc. But I could stick my head in the crawl and see if I can make it happen. Good idea.

@EdTheHeaterMan I did buy the tub and had it delivered. I guess I could return it (still in the crate). Good idea. I am generally a tub/shower man when ever possible.

@hot_rod yes that does seem compact. And, my wife too; this is just an apartment.

It was the last 'old school plumbing in the 100plus yo building.

A pedestal sink is more fashionable but the storage under a vanity can be very useful in a tiny bathroom. Does code require a tub? Certain clearances are required to the toilet. I have seen a few bathrooms shoved in closets with a sink the size of a drinking fountain. The European and Japanese brands will have more options.

@mattmia2 no it can be a shower. It’s a small apartment- small everything. I was trying to keep the bathroom, the same exact layout, but the was a couple skinnier than the new Kohler villager. I could put the old clawfoot back in, but that brings several new challenges.

Still not sure why the web platform drops certain words when I post.

    Clawfoot tub

Was the old tub, it was a couple inches skinnier

Hi, If there must be a tub, might a Japanese soaking tub fill the bill? Smaller footprint, but maybe some weight considerations 😎

There were clever shower configurations I saw in Europe for small bathrooms.
This was simplest with shower panels folded in when not used to make space. Saw this configuration with curved panels as well
