This is a test of the emergency flush test system. This is only a test.

In the mid 70's, I recall German WC's with a small depression in the China bowl just above the water surface.

I was told that the locals were into checking the PH of their urine.

You could pass your urine displacing the bit of water left in the depression, then you would drop a litmus strip into the catch basin which was all urine and not diluted by water.

    Sure you can.

All you need to do is eat. Then you can use a Toto to scan it.

So it scans your poop to determine how much water to use? 😲

This whole data collection thing is going right down the crapper!

The results are sent to the Muni that bills you for your sewage usage so they charge

you for your fair share……..like they charge you for the weight of a roll-off.

If you have no activity for 2 days there is a welfare check done.

The Shelf is not a Rumor !…When i moved to WEST Germany in 1971 my Oma had one of these toilets with a shelf.. She also had a bucket with a probe next to the Toilet so that they could check the "Stuhl/Poop" Haha…Lustig..

The "Messartikel" that HR took a photo of is Serious infomation !..Yeah,Kinda funny but not a Joke…Most Americans probably think that this is very funny …Just like the "Ausfahrt" on the Autobahn.😉

It was not a word that we used in Hessen when i was living in Bad Homburg…We just Opened all the windows to let fresh air in..

My Oma (Grandma) used to open the windows in the Morning and Hang the 2' thick Down comforter on the window sill…Guess that is called Stoßlüften nowadays.

Last time i was visiting with one of the manufacturers that we import items to the USA i noticed a switching device on the window of the airbnb that would shut off the heating system while Stoßlüften was being done..👍️

Sooo if you had lots of Ausfahrts during the night 🤢 Stoßlüften may be a good idea in the Morning.

As was asked in another thread a while back, and, maybe you commented? I don't remember, if you did I'm sorry.

But, is this tradition carried out when it's extremely cold out, and if so, for how long?

The hanging of the down comforter is a practical thing, it is to dry the moisture out that has migrated in to it from your body.

    It depends on many factors..

If you have plants or a bird they may not like the cold exposure for very long..(Cover the Bird)

If it is very cold you may just ventilate very quickly for a couple minutes..which is a truth Stoßlüften.

If it is milder you may ventilate longer

During the Summer most german widows have a top tilt function that allows you to leave the window tilted open all day and even it it rains it will not rain into the home.

Most Germans close the windows and put the Rolladen (Rolling shutters) down at night for better comfort and energy savings.

My omama (Hedwig von Sinzig) did the same thing with our eiderdown comforters. Her and opapa (Max von Ruchheim) lived with us when I was young and since they never learned English, I learned German as that is what was spoken in our house. Fond memories…….except for the boiled beef tongue.
