Anyone have information on this condensate piping?

One boiler or two?

Well… there's an F&T over there on the left, which I'll be doesn't work any more, and a swing check allowing flow in the odd dip pipe from left to right (I'll be that doesn't work either). It's in that odd dip so as to make sure it is submerged at all times, which gives it a fighting chance to function…
Other than those comments, what on earth is this hooked up to?

They used to drop and raise a horizontal pipe with a check valve . Keeping the check valve under water helps it seal.
I am betting this is a vacuum system and the check is an equalizer to let the condensate flow.

This return dumps into rescue tank which pumps over to main condensate.

It was a vacuum system a long time ago when they still ran the coal boiler which was abated in the 70s
