Crane Boiler for water baseboard heat

I have a 1921 home with a Crane boiler system for water baseboard heat and it works perfectly. However I had it serviced last week and the young man from the local heat and air place used all my Bell & Gosset oil. I was told to just use a few drops in each reservoir a few times a year. Now I have a large spot of oil under my boiler motor. I am hopeful but worried that the excess amount of oil will damage the motor. Any thoughts. It’s wonderful heat and do not really wish to replace the unit.

a couple drops on both motor cups. That square cover you see with the oil cup has a cotton wick below that holds the remainder of the B&G oil tube. If it is saturated it will run out.

If a little is good a lot must be better…. oh well. Probably won't hurt anything, though.

Over oiling is not a real problem but can cause a problem in the future.

When you over oil the motor bearings, any excess oil will spill over and leak out of the oil cup and find its way on to the rubber motor mounts. over time that oil will cause the rubber to soften and cause the motor shaft and the pump shaft to move out of alignment. When that happens you will start to have coupling failure on a regular basis. If you find yourself in that situation you will need to replace both motor mount rings so the shafts line up properly. Part number 118223 from B&G or you can use this part number from Armstrong to get less expensive motor mount rings 810120-000

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

I also found an owners manual pdf online from 1952 that I believe will be a good resource.

just added a photo I forgot to add earlier.

Nothing in that picture is 1952 although the pump may be the same as the older pumps. The boiler looks like70s-80s
