What’s the Best Kind of Chimney Liner to get for a Energy Kinetics Frontier?

Hi Folks,

I expect to get an Energy Kinetics EK2 Frontier Boiler and I’m sure I will need to get a chimney liner. The house has 3 floors plus the basement so I think I’ll need a 50 foot liner. Of course I will ask my contractor what they recommend but I’d like to hear from others on this form what kind of chimney liner to get. I’ve read I need a 6 inch stainless steel liner, 316Ti. Is that correct? Does it need to be insulated?

What brand of chimney liners are best? What are the characteristics of a liner that I should get and avoid? For example, should it have a smooth wall?

Thanks for this PECMSG, Does stainless steel liners come in different gauges? Does that matter?

for an ek-2 boiler we recommend a minimum of a 6" liner. If it is on an outside chimney an insulated liner is preferred.

Hi John, Thanks for this information… When I ask the mason for an estimate, is there anything else I need to tell them besides needing a 6" stainless steel liner?

a 6" stainless liner with a cap is all the information he should need but make sure they are a chimney specialist and not just a mason to make sure it is installed correctly. I have attached a link to the installation instructions and page 8 will give you the information he needs. If he has any other questions have him contact me through our tech support at 1-800-323-2066 weekdays 8 to 5
