Help with boiler starting up

I replaced the pressuretrol honeywell l4079b1033. The system shuts off after 30mins and the only way to get it running again is to hit the reset button

What's the operating controller set for?

if this is the primary and only pressutrol in the system you have bought the wrong pressutrol. If you have two pressurtrols then this one needs to be set higher than the other one as this will always needs to be reset. its a back up in case the primary pressurtrols fails.

thanks I set them both the same. The other one is set at 1 should I set this one at 5?

Yes, At minimum above the differential+cut-in. Anything lower than that will be in the normal operating range and trip. But generally they are set at 10. I gives you a buffer in case the operating pressutrol is kinda of out of calibration. I think that is very extreme and other problems will arise before you trip the manual reset.

would the setting of the pressuretrol cause the banging of the radiator if all else is crossed off like elevating the radiator to the side of the pipe, draining the system, changing the air vent is there anything else I’m missing

It absolutely can be. But the pressure on that old pressurtrol was right where you want it except for we don't know the differential setting. That would be the white dial under the cover.

The differential is set at 1. The l4079b1033 was originally set at 10 I lowered it to 5 thinking it might help with the banging should i switch it back

Banging can be caused by a number of things. You touched on making sure the radiator condensate drains properly, Draining the system (not sure how that does anything) and making sure the air vents are working. Other causes are water pooling in a pipe somewhere. If condensation does not drain back to the boiler and for some reason us stuck in a sagging main or branch that is no longer properly pitched, that can cause the radiator not to heat properly and banging. If your main vent is not properly located, that can cause premature vent failure
Other reasons for banging are incorrect near boiler piping, poorly designed Hartford Loop, wet steam entering the main(s)
There is a great book you may want to purchase in the store if you are new to steam heat.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

What changed in your system? What caused you to change the pressurtrol?
