Is there a CI gas boiler that is power vented?

Thought I would tap the knowledge base here because as I search different manufacturers the info says power vet but as get into the manual it seems they are actually direct vent.

So is this type of venting not available on a CI gas boiler?

Almost any boiler (almost) can be power vented. It's not so much the boiler as it is more to the reason to use a power venting system.

Do you have a viable chimney. If so, use it.

I do have a clay tile lined chimney but it is my understanding that it would need a SS liner.

Steam or hot water? Burnham makes steam and hot water that is power vented. Any models that will be labelled with PV in there model # are power vented. But keep in mind that although its power vented you still might have to make provisions for combustion air, This is why most boilers, water heaters and etc are direct vented. It's easier to just run just the piping for the combustion than to add another appliance (power vent kit) that can fail.

Weil McLain, Burnham, Crown, Peerless, and several others make them. Direct vent and power vent are the same thing when referring to a cast iron boiler.

@GroundUp that is incorrect. a direct vented appliance takes air direct from outside and into the boiler. power vent appliance only refers to exhaust. it has nothing to do with cast iron.

A Burnham IN5PVNI is a cast iron power vented boiler.

A Burnham X-PV3N is a cast iron power vented boiler that can be converted to a direct vented boiler with the direct vent kit.

    Direct vent combustion appliances include

furnaces, boilers, and water heaters that utilize natural gas or propane that are equipped with a pipe to bring combustion air directly from outside to the combustion chamber

They are literally the exact same thing on a CI boiler, whether you like it or not. Any direct vent boiler can draw room air (aka power vent) if there is adequate supply. A WM CGi for example is listed as a direct vent unit, but it is 100% a power vented boiler by definition.

The direct vent kit allows for exhaust and intake air in one pipe, one penetration through the wall.

With a power vent, or an add on venter, you would need a source of combustion air into the room.

Same with direct vent water heaters, compared to power vented models

Taking room air for an appliance list as a direct vented appliance changes the category of the appliance to a power vented appliance and changes the clearances between windows, doors, etc. Now you need clearances of 4' And not only that you need to now make sure your following code for combustion air in the basement. Your basement needs to be big enough to support combustion or you have to bring combustion air with dampers, fan in a can, or something similar.

So what am I wrong about? It's literally the exact same appliance, as I stated in the beginning and you argued with.
