1 pipe steam radiator overheating

Hey steamheads. I'm looking for a simple solution to calm down a steam steel convector in an apartment building circa 1965. The windows were changed in 2009? & of course the radiation is too large for the room now . I installed a PA 2000 on the vent with limited results (retired plumber). I covered half the element with 1- 1/2 " rigid insulation top & bottom . The building is relentless with the heat ! Solution open the windows . I'm hoping that someone has dealt with these Dunfos PA 2000. Are they able to close the steam vent 100%? Mine doesn't but my supplier says it should..

If anyone knows any tricks I'd be grateful if you'd share them with me

Thanks & Merry Christmas

you’re doing the right thing. In nyc it seems like every building owner just wants to push steam 24/7 from Oct to May so I get you.

Wrap the rest of it in insulation.

If it’s still too hot, you can install the smallest vent like a #4 Gorton or Maid o Mist or even put a valve in front of the vent and shut it.

You are in a good spot as a retired plumber!

in order for the trv to stop the heat the boiler has to cycle off. it can stop the radiator from venting which will keep it from heating at the beginning of a cycle but it can't turn it off in the middle of a cycle, once it has vented and is full of steam it will keep heating until the boiler cycle ends.

the convector heats by pulling air through it so if you put foil over part or all of the convector element, that in itself will reduce the heat output dramatically.
