New boiler issue; IBC 99,000

New boiler installed December 4. Unit is an IBC 99,000 model SFB 120-1.

Boiler shuts down several times a day; getting the flashing wrench error and code F005.

I am the homeowner, not a technician. I press and hold the wrench button and the unit fires back up. Yesterday I powered the unit off, and this provided the longest temporary fix (8 hours). Thought I had the problem resolved, so no action was taken by the technician when he came on a service call.

I found possible causes/solutions in the owner's manual. However, I have neither the knowledge or test equipment for the troubleshooting.

In addition, the circulation pump keeps running when the pipes are cool.

Will just put up with it until Monday when I will call for service again.

Any ideas on the cause of this issue?

Thanks in advance.

According to the manual, what is error code f005? What corrections does it say to take?

Here are the IBC error codes. F005 may be caused by improper venting. Check your vent piping against the installation manual and make sure the piping was installed exactly as required. Sometimes it isn't, resulting in problems like yours.

Blocked condensate, venting issue, gas supply issue, combustion tuning issue, or fouled up igniter. If the igniter is fouled up usually that is a sign of poor combustion. If I were a tech I would start with clearing condensate and checking igniter, then run the unit and check gas pressures/tune combustion, set it to high fire and check the exhaust to see if it recircs or could recirc. I would do all of those things even if one was found to be an issue because on a new install if one thing is off there is a chance other things could be off as well

Was the boiler combustion tested when it was installed?

Thanks for your input. Tech is on the way. I will show him the suggestions from GGross. I don't have the expertise or equipment to perform these checks.

Thanks to all for your posts. Will let your know what happens.
