Pump with speed digital control
I am looking for circulation pump for radiant heating whose speed can be controlled digitlly ie by an arduino or other microprocesssor. Do such pumps (about 1hp) exist and, if so, where might I find such a pump?

Think you would have to use a VFD and a standard motor. Not sure if there are any pumps in the 1hp range that can be directly controlled.

You want something with a 0..10V control input. This is one of the cheaper options (Ecoric+ only). These can usually be also driven by PWM so easy enough to connect to uP.
There are many others out there as well with 0..10V input.
The other way to get speed control is to use a wifi dimmer switch and plug in a regular PSC circulator. You can then control the pump speed by driving the dimmer.

I found this pump:
It looks like it can be controlled with an 0-10v signal, and also has some kind of app. Says it's comparable to a Taco 007e, so 1hp.
Can't vouch for it in any way.

Um… the Taco 007 series has a maximum power rating of 44 watts… about 0.05 horsepower. 1 horsepower would be 745 watts…

Oops, the product details were wrong on the website I was looking at.
Yeah, that'd be a huge pump.

My apologies, I need about a 0.2 hp with digital speed control.

we used to call those small circs 1/12 hp. Larger high head models were 1/6 hp

The use of 0-10 VDC is very common in the motor control world. You would need to connect a Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) interface to an Arduino (only some Arduinos have a built in DAC), how many bit resolution do you need. Or a PWM through an integrator circuit and buffered by an OpAmp to get to 10 volts.

What is the criteria for varying the speed? Based on what inputs?
The Grundfos Alpha and other brands have an app for adjusting speed, collecting data.
