Riello RDB Burner Shutting Down

Hi

My Riello oil burner was going in to lockout very soon after the fuel was injected/pumped, but no flame. I have cleaned the electrodes, cleaned the nozzle in kerosene overnight and then whilst in the kerosene placed in my ultrasonic cleaner. I’ve checked the fan too which purges for about 12 seconds before the oil pump starts.

It now fires up but only for roughly 5 seconds then goes in to lockout again. The flame looks good.

Could it be the nozzle needs to be replaced with a new one? At least it is now firing up!

Thanks for any advice

We don’t “clean” nozzles, we replace them.

If you’re not a trained oil burner tech with a combustion analyzer and a Riello manifold/gauge set, I would highly recommend that you not attempt anything more than replacing the nozzle with an identical one.

You should at least check to see that the flame is burning clean with one of these.

or have someone that owns one check the settings on your burner after replacing any nozzle or any other maintenance performed on your oil burner. It is the only way you can be sure that the fame is burning clean and will not cause carbon to soot up the heat exchanger.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?
