Total hack job?

This is not my video, just something I saw on YouTube.

Guy had a Lennox (G5OUH-48B-090-15) furnace installed. They vented it into an unlined chimney that was likely damaged at a bend. Condensate leaked into the house, so he calls the contractor and they ran a 12' long horizontal pipe out a basement window and then went up like 2 feet.

This can't possibly be right, can it?

i just sent an email to the Adams Plubing and heating company, asking if they have seen this video. The email address i used was adamsph@osage.net if anyone is interested. They also have a phone number on the sticker in the video. Let's flood the phone line…

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

You might want a building inspector to document this issue further.

Call the contractor back and ask if he pulled a permit… he didn't.

You might be allowed to have a code-compliant exposed smoke "pipe" chimney installed.

Just to be clear, the owner of this furnace isn't in this thread. It's a video that came up in my Youtube feed. Any advice will have to go in the comments section on that video

I don't think this post was presented by the homeowner. Maybe an example of proper furnace venting, gone wrong.
