Newbie Question
I recently rented a house with what I think is called hydronic baseboard heating. It has numerous problems, but everyone tells me it is a great system. The boiler is directly beneath my wife's bedroom, and it fires up in the middle of the night, keeping her awake. I think it may be something to do with the thermostat, i.e. when the temperature drops below the thermostat setting, the boiler starts. This invariably happens at night.
So firstly, is my diagnosis correct, and secondly, can it be adjusted?

Yeah, just set it back low enough where it doesn’t turn on at night. You probably won’t like the comfort level or the economy, but it won’t wake her up.

Maybe some insulation in the basement ceiling above the boiler could deaden the sound somewhat but it probably will not eliminate the problem.
