Moving column cast iron radiator valve to outlet
I am about to replace all the 1" right angle radiator valves with Dan Foss Thermostatic Radiator Valves. I intend to use wireless TRV heads to control them. These TRV heads require periodic replacement of the AA batteries. One of the radiators has the feed side (and its valve) tucked away in a fairly inaccessible corner. I would like to move the valve to the exit side which is more accessible. The general "on line" advice is "Don't do it". I think the valve will function properly with the flow pressure on the back side of the valve seat. What are the other down sides that I should consider when making this decision?
I am just using the TRV as a dumb off/on valve with a wireless thermostat located elsewhere in the room.

PS: This is a two pipe hydronic system

The valve will function with reverse flow as you propose — just not at reliably. However, I have to ask… is this system piped all parallel (home run) flow to a manifold? Otherwise… you may have some unpleasant surprises.

I installed several TRV’s a vintage Victorian home in Cape May. One of the valves was located on the return, unknowingly. That valve operated properly however there was a moaning noise that was determined to be the water flowing through the valve in reverse when it was close to, but not completely in the off position. So if you don’t mind listening to a ghost moaning through your home, go for it.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

Can you install a remote sensing head in that location?
