Steam radiator vent. I can blow thru it. Yet, radiator is stone cold
I had a hot radiator in an empty bedroom (Gorton D)
I found an old spare vent that I could blow through.
I switched out the Gorton D for this old vent.
Next time heat ran, the radiator never got warm. Stayed stone cold.
How can a vent stay closed, yet I was able to blow through it ??

Maybe the old spare vent is quite slow compared to the Gorton D. So the system may have shut down before that radiator had a chance to get steam.

A Gorton D is a huge vent. As 109A states, maybe the new vent has such a small hole that the system didn't vent fast enough to bring steam up to that radiator. Or, even though you can blow through the vent, there is sufficient restriction to block the low-pressure of the boiler's steaming.

Or the steam pipe leading to that radiator has a sag in it and is holding water that is blocking the steam.
With all your other radiators having those large D vents, they could be stealing all the steam from it.
