Boiler room emergency shut off switches, this weeks case

Happy Friday!

I'll bet you like this video better than the political commercials. I need your input. I changed the video app and thumbnail. Just curious if you like this one or the old one. This weeks video shows the proper way to install boiler room emergency door switches and my preferences. Hope you like it.

Very good video. Much more rational and to the point than the political videos. I find the captioning annoying because it distracts from the video. It is unnecessary as YouTube has its own captioning feature which can be turned on and off.

Nice video Ray! Nice clear wiring diagrams in the Power Flame burner. I agree that isolating power as far upstream as possible seems like best practice. You mentioned having to enter a couple boiler rooms to performance emergency shutdowns. Do you have any stories about times that an EPO switch or pushbutton came in handy? I’ve tested quite a few, and they seem to fail more than one would expect (usually incorrect wiring, I did see a break glass switch stick closed once) but never had to hit one as I was running away!

@RPK I have been in two boiler rooms where they filled with steam. The first was the pigtail was plugged and the steam boiler kept running. I had to walk through the boiler room blind to find the boiler and shut it it was scary

I do have a story where a door switch would have saved lot of money. In this school, they didnt have a door switch and the smoke alarm went off. The fire department came in and squirted the boiler with cold water. If they had a door switch, they could have just shut it off
