Maid O' Mist Retro Advertising

To My Fellow Hydronic and Steam Aficionados,

I hope someone can help me with a request. I am looking for images, PDFs, or hard copies of our old advertisements and catalogs. I have been considering recreating some of our ads from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. While Maid O' Mist HQ has some archives available, it is challenging to find older artifacts since the company is over 80 years old. If anyone has resources or can assist me in this search, please let me know. Thank you!

Brian Salem

I hope you get some good stuff! And I hope you'll consider advertising here on this fine site, where I learned of your products and company!

Old trade publications will likely have the advertisements.

    Architectural publications such as:

"American Architect and Building News was founded in 1876. It merged with the Architectural Review around 1920 and carried both names. In August of 1929, the magazine was bought by International, a division of Hearst. The title became American Architect Later it merged with Architecture and carried both titles. In 1938, it was absorbed by Architectural Record."

    may contain the advertisements.

    Some archived issues here:

    https://usmodernist.org/index-amar.htm

The second half of 1938 edition has quite the article on heating and refrigeration… including steam jet air conditioning starting on page 74 of the pdf.

    https://usmodernist.org/AMAR/AMAR-1938-02.pdf

The 1st half of 1938 also has a lengthy article on heating systems. Page 78 gets into steam and gravity fed hot water. There's a Hoffman Specialty ad on page 113. I'm sure Maid O' Mist has similar ads somewhere in the archives of these architecture magazines.

I suggest you try the Reference Section of your State Library - Reference librarians are an excellent source often ignored over Google etc. or in the alternative a University Library
