Has all the air been properly and thoroughly purged from the system?

No two systems are piped and setup exactly the same. Each one requires that the technician on site properly evaluate how to get the air out. An air separator will not remove air unless there’s flow through it and water won’t flow if air is blocking it. The circulator cannot produce enough pressure differential to overcome air binding. Proper manual purging is necessary.

Having said that, I’m puzzled how your technician could have properly purged it, but not gotten it to stop giving the error code?

You may have a bad circulator or the high limit may be set too high, but again, your technician should have found the issue.
