Mechanically inclined but don’t posses or am educated on combustion efficiency or know about air fuel ratios or rod angles and length and the sort. House shakes on start up and then the lovely smell. Is a replacement assembly as simple as drop in, plug and play .

You need a good oil burner tech.

Unfortunately, no. Not plug and play at all. There are just too many variables involved. Further, the boiler to which that burner is attached almost certainly needs to be checked and cleaned, and I wouldn't be surprised if the chimney or flue could use at least an inspection.

The house shaking on startup strongly suggests that either the ignition electrode settings are off, the ignition voltabe may be low — and the air/fuel ratio is off. None of this is that hard to fix — but you do kind of have to know what you are doing, and have the measuring instruments to do it.

Where are you located? We may know someone we trust in your area.
