Old Suntec Double Stage being replaced by single stage plus NYC Kit?

We have a burner with an old Sunstrand H3KB B100 Double Stage Pump that needs to be replaced. Heating company has sent me a proposal with a Suntec JPB4A-B1000 which seems to be a single stage pump. I need to discuss with them but need to know some basics. How can they replace a double stage with a single stage? Also, they have included a NYC Kit and I'd like to know what that is as well. Many thanks.

I have no idea what a NYC kit might be — and I'm not at all sure I want to.

On the pumps, however, it isn't a question of how many stages the pump has — it's what pressure and flow it can produce.

Also how much lift it has. 2-stage ones can lift more than single-stage ones.

What burner is this on? Where is the tank in relation to the burner?

If the oil level in the oil tank is below the level of the burner pump you should have a two stage pump. If the oil level is above the pump single stage should be ok.

That said single stage can lift the oil but not as well as a two stage.

A single stage pump has one set of gears to lift the oil to the pump and pressurize it to the nozzle. A two stage has two sets of gears one to lift and one to pressurize.

A two stage "B" pump is needed when your pulling higher vacuum , as mentioned oil lines and hight of oil that needs to be lifted will drop the pressure … As the pressure drops gas is released , the B pump bleeds off the gas to prevent cavitation on a two pipe system …. You may not need the B… Just saying

A NYC kit? Ive never worked exclusively for an oil company, and never did it everyday, but I've never heard that term. It's probably an old "City of New York Board of Standards and Appeals" specification. Mad Dog
