    I applaud you for the effort, You never know who might fall for this. In all my years of oil burner work, I have spent thousands of dollars to scrap men and riggers to remove and dispose of those old things. On a few occasions the old equipment was only a few years old and in pristine condition because the homeowner switched from oil to gas. I reinstalled them for a customer that couldn't afford a new system. Charged a minimum labor amount and even donated my time for some. But if you think you are going to get any $$$ for that thing in the existing condition, you will be waiting a ling time.

    Antique heaters are not like antique cars or grandfather clocks. The older they hang around, the more it will cost to get rid of them. Best of luck with that.

    Those V-1 series boilers were good units. I'm still using a similar boiler but without the tankless coil.

    It looks like someone sold them a new boiler instead of properly maintaining that one. But if someone does buy it, you can still get a firebox kit for it, and if you don't like the Sunray you can use a Beckett AFG or NX. And it'll run very nicely with a Carlin EZ-Gas.

    @jbar

    Call around to the local scrap yards they may come and get it or know someone that will. It can be taken apart to make removal easier (but messy).

    I would have insisted the installer remove it (they moved the new one in , they could have removed the old one). You can disassemble it yourself if you are handy.

    Its value in scrap will not offset the price of removal so you will likely have to pay something to get it removed.

    That is a small boiler and can easily be removed if disassembled and may not need disassembly if you have a bulkhead or walk out basement.

    BY JBAR back in 2022 post on this boiler:

    jbar Member Posts: 7March 2022I actually used a Piece of strong steel tie wire i had in my shed as a temporary solution. Our Burham V-14 America Oil Boiler is about 30 Years i estimate. I have the Origional Manual. The metal split apart is on the bottom of the clamp if i remember correctly. Yes the screw threads on the electrode Clamp/Holder are stripped and i put a longer screw with a Nut on the ends to keep the electrode assembly tight.

    I might give you $30.00 for the Weil McLain. Is that for sale?
