Advice on internet capable thermostat for one pipe steam heat and central air

looking for advice to replace two fairly new Honeywell T-3 thermostats with internet capable ones for remote operation. Second floor unit controls AC only, first floor existing T-3 controls AC and steam boiler and works well, no big overswings, basically works as good as my old old mercury tstat that controlled only boiler, but I want to be able to control it remotely when away from this house. I did not program the T-3’s. I was thinking of Honeywell T-6 Pros as they seem to use the same base and wiring arrangement so coul be just plugged in and configured. How difficult is it to configure especially the one doing both AC and heat? Any advice would be appreciated.

we have an ecobee running a heat pump at a rental house with heat pump only we manage and tho I like it and its internet internet I understand they are not easy to use with single pipe steam and of course would need new wiring bases.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Either the more advanced Ecobees or the Honeywell T-6 should work well. Both can be programmed to manage steam heat reasonably well. Programming either one to manage automatic changeover from the AC to the heat is a bit tricky, but can be done with patience — and reading the manual.

We use the Honeywell T-6 in rental buildings and configure them with remote sensors.

Beware that Home Depot and Lowes sells a version with the same model number but fewer features made in China.
