Help with Bosch combi

I have a Bosch combi unit, about 5 years old. Was a new model at the time. It is now locking out with “EA” every day (usually happens overnight) and sometimes several times a day. Also, there is a loud “thud” sound that comes from the mechanical room that I have not been able to specifically locate yet. It’s only happened a few times and not every time it locks out.

I’ve had the local techs out twice, and they replaced the expansion tank, but it locked out again that very night, and they seem stumped.

Any ideas? Gas valve?

The igniter flame sensor may need to be replaced , every 5 years . Check the condensation line ,make sure there is proper drainage and the end is not in water , it should have a air gap …

There was an error rendering this rich post.

The “thud” that you’re hearing is probably delayed ignition. As Big Ed mentioned, the igniter needs to be replaced. In fact, after 5 years, the heat exchanger needs cleaning and a complete maintenance done.

I’d suggest that you find more competent technicians.
