Cleaning my evaporator coil and noticed this loose duct work
Any idea what this is?
Is this the exhaust for the furnace? It is just outside of where the 3 burners ignite the LP.
It looks like someone secured it with a sheet metal screw but barely.
Looks like a real pain in the butt to secure correctly.
How do I ensure a tight fit?
Thanks.

That is the inducer fan and exhaust. Hopefully there is some sort of a seal in that transition that connects it to the exhaust pipe.
Or are you talking about the pressure switch that is in the foreground and attached to the motor for the inducer fan?

Looks like black duct tape on the flue pipe‽‽‽‽
If that is indeed duct tape, or anything flammable/meltable on the round 'duct' leaving to the left in that picture, turn the gas off to the unit & call to get it corrected.
Maybe take a few more pics, from further back, showing how that pipe is run?
That transition from the rectangle assembly to the flue is fine, unless it has screw holes on the top & bottom with no screws in them—then they should be installed. But I've seen them with only one screw/screw hole, too. That's a natural draft flue, it operates under negative pressure, so flue gases don't leak out.

Something moved and cracked the exhaust pipe at the outlet of the IDM. Or its running extremely poorly and over heated. Shut off the gas immediately. Do not use the heat until a professional repair is done.
That black conical piece needs to be ordered OEM.
