AC Air Handler with Hot Water feed from boiler

I have an air handler in my attic the blows hot air for heating season and cold for cooling. When I bought the house, there was little insulation on the attic floor.

My 1st instinct is to add insulation, but then I began to think if it gets too cold in the attic, the water pipes could freeze.

Thoughts?

The hot water coil and the piping to it should be protected by putting antifreeze in the system if it is subject to possible freezing.

How long have you lived there?. Is it possible there is antifreeze in the system?

If the attic CAN get below freezing than anti-freeze is a must!

Anti-freeze reduces the systems output. Best design calls for the heating system to be included within the heated space of the home. Look to move the heated space barrier to the roof or create a heated space containing the HVAC equipment with heavily insulated duct.
