AO Smith hybrid water heater

My 80 hybrid quit before a tear. The replacement lasted 15 month's. Now I am told the it has been completely redesigned and more efficient. That's because of a federal lawsuit in defective equipment. How do I get in the class action lawsuit to get reimbursement for the labor cost?

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?

I think the one Ed linked is for a tankless unit, just to confirm, you have a tank style heat pump water heater correct?
For what it is worth I have checked with my own representative and they know nothing about a class action lawsuit against AO smith for their heat pump water heaters. I would be interested to see if there is one currently though1
