Hydra water boiler element burning out

Replaced a burned out element with new and the new one burned out in a couple minutes.  Water was at the top of the element for sure.  Any ideas of what's up?

Element was not submerged in water or you have the wrong voltage/element

The water is a dark brown color.  Should it be clear?

Not sure what you have. whats hydra mean? the two most common reasons for element failure are what i stated. Any heating element has to be submerged in the liquid it is trying to heat to prevent it from overheating. Turning it on before bleeding air out will do it.

As @pedmec said. The element has to be fully submerged (not just "water at the top") before applying power. The other possibility is that you got a 120 volt element and tried to run it on 240 volts...
