Settings for Vaporstat + Pressuretrol in series?

Old pressuretrol gave up the ghost after 60 years. Ordered a new vaporstat 0-16oz as the main control. 1 pipe system, well vented.

Just checking, initial values for a vaporstat should be say 10oz cut out out and 3-4 oz cut in? Then monkey with it? Going in Wednesday night and then it's due to get really cold so I just need ballpark so everything works.

I also got a A type pressuretrol (main is cut in, diff+main is cut out). Where do you recommend I set that? It's just the "safety" rather than the operating control. Lowest cut in is .5 psi on the case.

You can delete the P404 or wire in series . The vapor stat will get the exercise..

There was an error rendering this rich post.

I'm gonna wire in series. Suggestions for setting for the pressuretrol?

    Hello @delcrossv,
Those number sound reasonable, 10oz cut out out and 3-4 oz Cut-In, PA404A Cut_In is 0.5 PSI, Cut-Out 1.5, with the PA404A you could go slightly higher with the Cut-In, since some have trouble cutting back in at the minimum of 0.5 PSI, although the PA404A may never trip unless the Vaporstat fails.

If your boiler is not oversized and well matched to the EDR you may not trip either device.

Just to make sure, this is the L408J1009 (break on rise). Correct?

Cheezus. Previous tech wired the LWCO and pressuretrol IN PARALLEL! 🤬 1&2on the MM 61.

I already got the new parts so I guess I can keep the old, old, old WR pressuretrol as a spare. 🙄

I think that's known as an OR Gate.   ;)

Not very useful in such an applicable.

Ever have one of those days?

Got them installed: Resideo 404 pressuretrol leaks from diaphragm, put in plug on tree and returning for a replacement

1009 vaporstat has no working differential, no matter what I set is at, it cuts in at 6 oz. per the gauge. Out of the box there was no tension on the diff spring. Gonna return that one too for a replacement, but it does cut out at 13 oz so it's better than nothing.
    Replacements should be here Friday.

Are all new controls this bad?

    Nuts.

Replacements showed up today. Some futzing, but got a stable 11 oz cut out and a 3 oz cut in. Note, the markings on the vaporstat have no correspondence with reality.

Just in time for design day this Sunday .
