Been a while but here we go short story to go along with it .
I originally looked at this poor install about 14 or 15 years ago ,I gave a price to correct and straighten out the piping being the boiler could not be serviced, originally sitting directly on the floor.
The local rep at the time paid outta pocket and had someone do a quickie just so you could get the trap off the unit . It was not much better than before but it worked .
Well upon the home owner doing his own annual maintance he found that his unit was leaking .
He remember me from years ago and said that I was his guy and to do what I do so I did and here’s the results .
Please pick away I love criticism and critiquing of stuff. I may have done wrong..

    Nice Job!!

The wiring on the old job makes me cringe. It's hard to believe the old one held together that long. I don't know how some of these installers stay in business or how they can sleep at night.

So far so good ,good turn down ,pump built in ,easy access to combustion chamber for cleaning but truth is time will tell . I ve done all in my powers to make sure everything is correct up to,and including water quality so time will tell .
As for installing each unit has it’s learning curve and ever installer finds his way . Personally for mod con I like a water tube over a fire tube but that’s me . I like the idea of my heat exchanger having its own pump for circulation and to ensure enough velocity to flush and scour debrie .
All in all for the money there a good unit no better no worse if properly installed ,programmed and set up as most units in its price range . The 10 to 1 turndown is also nice . Most likely when my munchkin kicks it I ll put in a elu . Thanks for the kind words

I love this statement. One of my favorite Clammyisms. Here in Podunk, Indiana I can't find anyone that does what you do, much less get to the I did stage. So I got no results.
Thank you for sharing this project with us.

@clammy work is always first class.

Its discouraging to me to come on this site and see some of the sloppy work being done by contractors. A lot of them can’t  even do basic things like flare tubing for an oil line and get the oil line tight. They want the quick fix. “Lets through a tiger loop at it”

its pretty common knowledge that 75-80% of hvac calls are electrical in nature

I feel bad for the unknowing homeowners paying high prices and getting shafted

I just cant imagine anyone doing electrical work like shown in the Munchkin clammy removed.

Ed unfortunately that work was done by a lic contractor and was inspected and passed and was re done by a plumber for the original rep to quell an angry home owner over issues . I know of the contractors work being I have seen it many times over and it’s always a mess and it’s always unico and what ever he thinks is easy, he is an excellent sales man . The unico install is no better then the old munchkin install zippo on planning and execution but got paided .. it s a sad part of the business seeing shady work by those who generally don’t care that’s why it done so poorly they don’t care and most likely don’t know any better nor care to ,just need to be smarter then the next slightly dumber bear not to hard these days no yogi ?
    Peace and good luck clammy
