Can a 60's steam boiler be retrofitted with newer burners and gas controls?

    Is this an oil fired boiler?
    Can you show us some pictures of it?

    Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.

    Most of the time older boilers can be retrofitted with modern burners and controls. However, one has to consider if the investment is worth the effort. Hate to see people "put fertilizer on a weed," as my father used to say.

    FWIW, had my 28 year old Utica gas boiler replaced 2 years ago. No issues with it but felt like every year the odds were moving against me for a failure. Best thing i ever did. Replaced with a Peerless and first winter my gas usage dropped by 25%. Peace of mind plus lower energy usage is a win-win for me.
