Radiator vent question

Can I use an elbow to put a 90 degree radiator air vent in place of a straight vent?

Need to replace a vent on a convector, I typically use Hoffman 41.  I have an extra Hoffman 40 laying around, was wondering if I could be cheap and use it…

Misunderstood what you were trying to do

The tongue on the hoffman 40 will hit the wall on a 1/8 elbow before fully tightened and barely one turn on a 1/8 street ell. On a reducing elbow it can fit, but would assume it would impede the function of the tongue which should be in open space inside the radiator. I'd think the extra work wouldn't offset the cost of a new hoffman 41, but the price of hoffmans skyrocketed.

Hoffmans are great, but Xylem has had so many multiple flat % price increases across their entire lineup (b&g, m&m, hoffman, etc..) that their prices are out of wack. There are good cheaper alternatives to the hoffman 41 that others may suggest such as a vertical Gorton..
