New install question. Does this look right?

Just got two new trane units installed.  One is a 4 ton and one is 5 ton. Both two stage trane xr16. After they left I looked inside the units outside and one has coils in it and the other doesn’t. Is this ok?

Are they operating and maintaining the temperature in your house?

Looks weird but it is all factory piping. You have 2 different size units they will not be exactly the same.

We have three units, 5 ton each, two stage- American Standard condensers (same as Trane- different paint job and badge) your second picture looks exactly like the coils on our system.

I'm going to guess the 5 ton has the copper and the 4 ton does not.

The 5 ton needs more coil to transfer the heat to/from the outside air from/to the refrigerant. I believe the 4 and 5 ton units are the same footprint and dimensions. So how do you fit more coil in the same box? Just wrap it around another few inches, then use copper to connect the ends that go past the other ends. .

I bet you it is working just fine, I can guarantee that no one stole the copper coil out of the one that does not have the copper The smaller one just does not need it.

After you make that expensive repair and you still have the same problem, What will you check next?
