    What model aquastat do you have? Some of them have three terminals, and can be used to make on rise (what you want), or make on fall.

    An L4006B will do what you want, most of them have an adjustable differential.

    i have a l4006b. It doest have the adjustable differential dial? i think its fixed .. so if i have it power the pump at 160 will it stay powered on until the water temp drops back to below 160 or does the differential cause it to loose power if it goes higher than the differntial?

    Can we back up a bit here?

    What brand of wood boiler do you have and what model?

    Do you have a triple aquastat to control the boiler to begin with?

    You need to download the installation manual for your L4006B before you do anything.

    I hope you have some sort of emergency dump zone for that boiler which will work even without electrical power...

    @fryfour

    You need a reverse acting aqustat (one that makes contact on a temperature rise) L4006b1165 will do it if you want an imersion aqustat. If you want one that straps on the pipe those are available as well

    is the boiler outside? What about freeze protection?

    Id use an electronic setpoint control, much more  adjustment and they are both NO and NC

    A temperature and pressure safety valve is a necessity, yes. However, in my professional opinion it is not adequate for a solid fuel fired boiler, as it will not protect the boiler in the case of an excessive fire -- which will happen, sooner or later. Unless the boiler is to be attended at all times, and has a positive way to shut off the draught to the fire, it must have a dump zone capable of absorbing all the energy from a full load of fuel -- how big that is depends on the boiler fire box -- and that dump zone must be set up so that the boiler can thermosiphon into it without depending on pumps.
