Ps connecting any boilers gas line using a appliance connector it a total lack of any professionalism in my mind in a late nite pinch maybe but as a permanent connection shows a complete lack of any pride or quality . The fact that from the looks of it they redid a bunch of copper returns and did not add tees for main vents this alone show there complete lack of any steam knowledge or skills . Again waste no money on that boiler and get a properly sized one installed or just live w it a season . Ps I lose jobs to low ball garbage like that all the time and I love it ! lol

    Peace and good luck clammy

Do they ever call you begging you to come fix it later on?

I can't imagine spending the money to repipe a boiler that is perhaps more than twice the size it needs to be.  Big bucks and still have big problema.  Main vents certainly could be installed and would be appropriate regardless of what is done back at the boiler later.

I don't know enough to know if there's really any market for used residential boilers but some quick Googling seems to suggest people sell them.  There are certainly some being sold on eBay but I would think if anyone was considering this as a possible cost save they would at least want some kind of certification or warranty. Maybe a company like this one would be worth a phone call just to see what they say.  This company supposedly buys and sells used boilers throughout the country. Just maybe you could recoup a little...  https://surplusgroup.com/buy-new-surplus-used-chillers/buy-used-boilers/

They usually never have me repipe they all accept some type of miracle flick of a screw drive fix or a really cheap repipe to match the cheap price they had the boiler installed for . I usually inquire what they paid to have the boiler installed and it usually way low and I explain the real price of what a properly installed steam boiler should look like and operate like and be able to be serviced easily . The list of excuses are fabulous I think I ve heard them all and my answer is always the same well you won’t have to live w it long and move on to anyone who s not willing to waste my time and are serious about squaring things up other wise call a big company pay and get zippo in most cases . It that plain and simple . It amazing how not one home owner really does any reaseach or looks at the manual till way after issue start . It also amazes me that people put up w bad jobs for a few years and then act all surprise when given a realistic price on a major re do,I always say it just like installing* a new boiler only difference is the boiler down there but it got to be de piped and started over again and done correctly . The ultimate funny excuse is well the internet said it should only cost this much and I say I wish u luck finding some one who works for nothing and I leave ,I have zero time for those who main purpose is gather 20 prices and pick the cheapest I will always be at the bottom of that list and I love it there I like being the most expensive at least it would seem that way until you realize nothing I included is is any body else’s contract and that for what you paying your getting the minimum of what’s required to do the job ,love it apples to apples .
On another note whos is gonna want that boiler maybe for free why cause some bodies gotta get it out and deliver it at close to what 800 lbs gonna need some gorillas to move it and not destroy it in the process . Total lose great boat anchor and life lesson .
The sweeten of a cheapened price is forgotten after the bitterness of poor quality
